Greetings, bloggy friends! I’m slowly settling back into my Australian life, but making ALL THE PLANS to be back to the USA (and hopefully Europe) in no time at all! Now, to remember which Gringotts vault is mine… *rubs chin*
I was gifted this adorable little necklace from my friend Lexi DeRock, who is one of those annoying all rounders, y’know? She’s like “i’m an amazing hair and makeup artist, AND i’ve written a book on both those things, AND i’m a fabulous photographer, AND a jewellery designer, AND I can make my own clothes, AND i’m a really fun person to be around…” etc etc. I really hate her. NOT. In fact, I kind of want to be her… Shh don’t tell!
Actually, we bonded rather heavily over our love of vintage treasures and obscure bands (one of which my boyfriend used to be in), and i’ve even done a couple of pinup photoshoots with her – this one (boudoir and 60’s flight attendant realness), and a Halloween themed Pinup Bride of Frankenstein.
To top it all off, Lexi now has a vintage boutique beauty parlour and is a “purveyor of vintage and retro goodies” called Yankee Sweetheart – she is American born, after all. It’s located in Geelong, Victoria, and although I haven’t been there yet (i’m actually going tomorrow!!) – LOOK AT HOW CUTE IT IS! I’m already so excited to be amongst the turquoise goodness! Anyways, Lexi has recently branched out into creating her own range of Yankee Sweetheart Jewellery, and I was so stoked when she sent me this adorbs little flamingo necklace. Firstly, I love flamingos – I even got a little one tattooed on my butt when I was in Las Vegas in August… it’s TRASHTASTIC. Secondly, this is such a beautiful, quality piece. The illustration style is heaps unique, and there are 2 separate spots that you can close the clasp over, depending on how long or short you want to wear it. Or, y’know, if your neck is thick like your thighs and you need the extra wiggle room on a necklace… Can you say “plus size jewellery”, y’all?!
